Owners of properties within a district registered on the NM Register of Cultural Properties that contribute to that district are permitted to purchase and install a plaque stating this.

The Monte Vista and College View Historic District is on that register.  It comprises 852 structures.  702 of these structures were found to contribute to the district in a 1995 survey.

The list of 702 structures appears in the August 2000 nomination of the district which you can download on our page Historic District .  If you're unsure, just contact us.

To develop the citation for your plaque contact us and/or call Ed Boles at the City of Albuquerque, 924-3342.  We can consult the August 2000 nomination and tell you the year that the survey determined that your property was built. We can send you a copy of the 1995 survey for your property and assist you in developing a citation for your plaque.  Citations often contain information of interest such as the year of construction, names of notable people involved in your house, or an architectural style prominent in your house.

Plaques of cast bronze are made by the Historical Society of New Mexico which charges $200 for each plaque. (We can help you get a $25 discount). Once you receive your plaque we are happy to erect the plaque as you direct at no cost.
